2016 Durif
King Valley
Single vineyard wine from Murtagh's in the King Valley.
Full bodied Durif reminiscent of those from the warmer Rutherglen Gl despite being grown midway up the King Valley.
"A big mouthful of fruit and oak here, not to mention alcohol. Everything about this wine is dark and dense. Dark chocolate, blackberry, cassis, dark toasted spices, licorice, tar and camphor oak notes. A most hearty, meat-and-three-veg kind of wine, with 6 years in bottle delivering supple tannins and savouriness, 86 points".

"Bolshy red, creamy-woody oak, boozey, coconut and cream, rum n raisin. Sheesh, this is XL. Waves of dark fruit, coconut, chocolate and booze soaked fruit, but mostly that lavish lushness of coconutty stuff here. Wow. Haven’t seen a wine like this in a long time. You’ll need a guide to find yourself through this but those who like this style will be well rewarded, 88 Points".
